-Farmers in the San Joaquin Valley are unable to grow their crops due to a Federal Court ruleing under the Endangered Species Act that rations water usage for irrigation from local rivers. The Forced drought on the region affects some 500,000 acres of the most fertile farmland in the United States.
The Federal Irrigation Rationing imposed on Californian farms in the San Joaquin valley are claimed to be for the preservation of the endangered "Delta Smelt" Minnow.
